Investigator Crough and his colleagues in the Major Crimes Unit investigate murders and other reported homicides, suspicious deaths, physical assaults that result in serious physical injury, sexual assaults, crimes against children, police-involved shootings, and conduct covert, special investigations per the authority of the Monroe County Sheriff.
During the late 1990s Investigator Crough was assigned to a federal violent crime task force and served as an undercover agent in a firearms suppressions unit that proactively targeted convicted felons and violent criminals who trafficked and sold illegal firearms in Western New York.
Investigator Crough has served on the Monroe County Sheriff Hostage Rescue Team since 1989 as a hostage negotiator, and currently serves as the commander of that specialized team.
Investigator Crough resides in the Rochester, New York area with his wife, Suzanne, and two daughters, Jessica Lee and Cassidy Hope.
